Since the weather is nice this weekend, we started the chicken "yard". It will be a great addition for space and distraction when the littles get here. We plan on doing the run in landscape timbers too and putting a top on it (DH just decided this was how it was going to be today) I also ordered an apricot tree today for the chicken yard, super excited!

It will be an additional 720sqft, the run being 540sqft I believe. I am very pleased!

Found a 3ft Texas fig tree today, I'm so excited! I'll be off Wed thru Sunday the week my new babes get here so I guess I'll be doing some planting

Make sure you protect those new trees from the chickens until they are well established.
They can destroy the plant and dig at the roots enough to kill the plant.

I plan on wrapping the base of them with HWC about a foot around

Finished the chicken yard up, it's not the prettiest but for now will serve it's purpose going to put a planter bed on the outside of the circled part, I'll put HWC on the outside so they don't pick it clean, lol (I'll do that the week the littles get here) more to come...

The run fodder box I made weekend before last is working out great! Spring wheat, alfalfa sprouts, and kale coming in nicely (not fast enough for the ladies though)

Holy crap I'm whooped! Got the planter bed done today and filled...now I'm debating whether I'm going to pull out the seeds and get to planting or wait till tomorrow will be picking up the littles first thing in the a.m.
