(Uninformed... Ok, "dumb" question ;) ) In humans we often look a lot like one parent at birth, then look like the other later on. Do chicks of a mixed marriage change over time or do they choose one side, or both sides and stay there their whole life?

You did good ;) I found a great home for an "extra" drake. I hemmed and hawed worried he would be ok and safe... turned out he got to have TWO females of his breed all to himself at his new home, with NO other drakes! Gosh... we should all be so lucky in life ;) The whole car trip there he...

Being trampled by little hen feet, so eager to get out to the garden that they run right over my feet, is one of my favorite life-moments. It means they trust you, and the garden you have provided is their little bit of heaven.

She is so beautiful that she likely gets chased by paparazzi... That is why she is camera shy... It is hard being so beautiful, 'ordinary' people don't understand the burden (sigh)

thank you for sharing your babies :) it is always so much fun to watch over the top of the fence what is happening in someone else's yard. i played the little video at 10pm and my dog who was sleeping nearby JUMPED at the calling hen. (giggle) so that made it even funnier.

I made the mistake of building a run that cannot be moved around. I'll need to make some fencing in new areas this summer. But honestly, they did such a 'scorched-earth' deal on the ground that was such nice tall grasses when they came, that I don't think anything will ever grow there again. It...

it is so clean (no poo all over the place ;) ) and the grass in the run is.. well... there. Keep the pictures, it won't look like that long! Chickens are worst to grass than locusts.
