    Gender guess 4 week Barnevelder

Ronnie at 10 wks. Guess I need to stop living in denial, lol.
  2. Fluster Cluck Acres

    Gender guess 4 week Barnevelder

I would really prefer for @Starrponies to be correct, but I’m still thinking cockerel, too. Although I’m less confident than I was a couple weeks ago.

    Gender guess 4 week Barnevelder

    Ronnie now (8 weeks).

    Gender guess 4 week Barnevelder

I hope you’re right! We decided we’re keeping him regardless, but I’d still prefer a hen. If Ronnie is a roo and a nice bird, we’re going to set up a small breeding flock for him. But I’m not 100% set on breeding silver Barnies, so I’m like a hen and then I can keep be indecisive about what I...

    Gender guess 4 week Barnevelder

I’ll get some pics a little later today. Right now it is yucky rainy outside where Ronnie is. It’s dry inside, and also a little distracting… It’s HATCH DAY!!!!

    Gender guess 4 week Barnevelder

I need to get more updated pics. Ronnie’s comb has not gotten any larger or redder. It is still more orange/red than my pullets, but isn’t as brilliant red as my 2 other cockerels. He still doesn’t have a lot of lacing pattern and the chest is entirely black. So I still think it a a boy...

    Gender guess 4 week Barnevelder

Almost 6 weeks. In the first pic, the lighting makes the comb look more pink than it is. While the wattles are red, the comb is still pretty yellow. Comb also hasn’t grown much in the last few weeks. It’s probably wishful thinking, but im still 🤞 Ronnie turns out to be a girl!
  8. Fluster Cluck Acres

    Gender guess 4 week Barnevelder

Updated photos of Ronnie now 5 weeks. Still won’t say definitively but the pink in those waddles screams cockerel to me.
  9. Fluster Cluck Acres

    Gender guess 4 week Barnevelder

It’s still a baby, but probably a cockerel.
  10. Fluster Cluck Acres

    Gender guess 4 week Barnevelder

This is Ronnie, a silver double laced barnevelder. Purchased straight run from a local breeder. Any guess on gender? I know it’s early, but you know me I love guessing! Truthfully though, I’m on the fence with this one.
