Onyx is a die hard broody, she still hasn't snapped outta it, smdh. I had to go out last night and pull her clucking self out of a nest box and put her on the roost🤦♀️ If she doesn't snap out of it by Friday she's going in a crate.
It's amazing how well the ameraucana chicks fit in with my flock! My flock is always good about integration, but these chicks are able to mingle with the bigs without any problems.
Felicity (lavender English Orpington) has been broody for her first time for the past 15 days, she had been diligent and never once switched nests, so I ordered her 8 blue star pullets from ideal. They arrived yesterday in great condition with 2 extras (I think their blue cuckoo marans) I got...
I'm not complaining at all, lol, I'm only keeping the cockerel, 2 Isabel pullets, 1 wheaten, and the wheaten Marans. So far this year I have had insanely good luck with my cockerel/pullet ratio, knock on wood, lol
Not the best pics, but here are the ameraucanas and the 1 wheaten Marans. It turned out the yellow down was not an indicator of sex. They are 6 weeks old, the cockerel is plain as day now with his more prominent lavender and darker cream color around the neck and throughout, the rest are pullets.
When I got home from work I had a lot of stuff to do because of the storms (feeders to clean out, poop boards to scoop, grow out coop to clean out) the wind with these storms had been in excess of 60 mph, so everything got soaked, even under a covered run. After I got all that done I decided I'd...
I spoke with the breeder I got the Isabel eggs from yesterday, she said she's never noticed any differences in down color between sexes and I should know without a doubt who's who by 6 weeks old. As of right now the only ones showing a lot of lavender and a darker cream are the 2 with the yellow...
Well Felicity has been sitting for four days, our tractor supply stopped selling chicks early, so I ordered her 4 pullets from Meyers. More chick pics to come🤪🤣
Yeah, they are removable and very easy to clean, I put a brick there, we'll see how it goes tonight. I tried the box on the floor and she freaked out, so I put a bunch of hay and shavings🤷 Thank you for your suggestions, I appreciate it!
They are about 8-ish inches off the ground, I thought about that, but then I also thought about all the poop, idk what the solution is, aside from the nest box issue she's been great besides that first day out.
