There are many more on...
That would be a grow box & can be done in a variety of ways.
It could be a frame of 2x4 or 2x6 w/ wire across the top of the box. Bottom of the box is open & it could be moved around. The soil under the frame can be conditioned or amended & then planted in various seed - clover, oats, beets...
I will need to save this website and go check it out. I also want to learn what some of those other tests are.
There is also a test for the blue egg gene in Ameraucana, Araucana & Cream Legbars...
Who did you get her from?
Almost looks like the blue project birds that were being worked on on west coast...
If she didn't have good eye makeup or other female CLB characteristics, I wouldn't use her for breeding. She can pass that on to her chicks until autosexing is very hard to use...
I didnt know you could DNA test a bird for sex. What was the cost for DNA test? Where did you send & what did you have to provide? How long did it take for results? Did you get them online first (portal through email) or did you have to wait for mailed results?
When I bred & raised Shetland...
What breeds went into the Saphire Sky? I've never heard of this hybrid before.
"SS", to me, means Speckled Sussex - a reddish brown bird w/ white speckles. They are a heritage breed, that I've owned in the past but don't have currently. They are both large fowl & Bantam sizes.
Cute birds...
I have done a couple of different builds w/ CP.
My initial tractors were built using treated 2x4 (2) & 2x6 (1) bases. They survived not 1 but two moves on flat bed trailers when we had to have temporary housing in between moving from leased property to our current (& last?) property. Built in...

Many plants will work inside a run - just protect the roots at least while they are getting established. That can be done with large rocks or boards, chunks of tree stumps, etc. Or you can put up a small fence encirlcling the plant - a ring of chicken wire, 2x4 wire.
Yesterday, I read...
EdgeC - what state are you in? I, too, am in Zone 7 (sandhills, NC).
Based on your coop size, I'm thinking 25 is your max number. I was at max during Hurricane Florence. They couldn't be free ranged or out in numerous tractors, that were either directly damaged or couldnt be moved due to...
I differ on the white, the color of eggs & the crests.
Some legbars, (the accepted cream, crele & white varieties & the currently not accepted blue, pumpkin, opal & isabella), carry a white gene and will produce white legbars. Originally, they were considered sports. Now, they are an acepted...
Cream Legbar Club
You can get the basic SOP here. Looks like it's on the 5th draft...
There are currently 3 "accepted" varieties. Cream, Crele & White. I know other breeders have at least 4 other varieties- Blue, Pumpkin, Opal & Isabella.
I'm interested in seeing BuffTheBhrama's response!
Can you post pics for us to see your current set up? So much easier to give advice.
I am in NC too. Hate the sand on our property. Pretty sure it was heavily mono cropped & sprayed. At 1st, in 2015, not even bugs or worms. When it rained, the smell was bad enough to make people physically ill &...
You can search for your state thread. Even in same state, will be areas that have different microclimates - meaning different care routines.
Work - I've found the bigger the area the chickens are contained in, the less work overall. You can do large, gravity fed waterers & feeders requiring...
What about layering it w/ "harder" cards stock or regular paper?
I actually shred paper towels & napkins, but sandwich them between folded cereal box...
Looks like I don't have a pic of that, but tucked between the 2 halves of this box would work...

The problem is the solution...
Fence in the side yard - weedeat just enough to put up temporary, electric poultry netting around all of it. If you don't want the netting for future use after this is done, resell it. It holds value well. While using netting, chickens will need to be moved into...
