Southeast Chicken Mom

I’m a professional artist, singer/songwriter, educator and researcher, and 25+ yr business owner. I concentrated on microbiology in college, worked as a medical professional for a lot of years, and have a number of RNs in the family. I only say that because I never planned on having chickens, but it’s all helped and prepared me tremendously to have good stomach and a sincere desire to find real answers and options when faced with various medical issues that have come up with our sweet girls. I’m thankful!

We’ve had a backyard flock over the last 10+ years. They are egg layers only, and spoilt with lots of love and excellent mostly all-natural husbandry because they are also our pets and a great source of education (and daily entertainment) for our family. I only wish our town didn’t have an ordinance on numbers, so we could enjoy a larger flock, and a couple of roosters, too.
