Started "chickening" in May 2020 and am very excited about this journey. It's been an obsessive one so far.
My husband and I are currently building our new home, we are (hopefully) moving in the fall of 2021. We didn't plan on getting any chickens or building a coop until we were at our new location but with COVID-19, I had been off work for 3 months and had time to devote to them while they were young.
Also, 2020 was my 40th birthday year (June 13th) and b-day plans had to be canceled so I requested chickens and a coop instead of a weekend away whale watching. My patient and understanding husband only asked what I wanted in a coop.
In 2023, we built a large walk-in coop and the birds moved in on November 30, 2023.
We have no children but 2 pit bulls, 3 cats, and now chickens, whose numbers ebb and flow.
Chicken math is real. It's serious. And I'm afflicted.
