I am curuous, if they are bred for meat why does it matter how they show or their dispositions? The mean ones should be the easiest to put down as needed.
For lost to winters chill plants pretty muck most all my citrus and the guava is still showing no signs of life. I am goiing to replace...
Open air well ventilated walk in coops are a must in my book, also ones that can be divided as needed to accommodate more chicken if you do add a rooster to your flock. Broodies will brood and give you surprise offspring.
Currently, I have 12 roosters in the bachelor pad for DW to rehome by...
I guess this drought plus that freeze have their upsides. I think I mowed last July or Aug. Chicken pickens are probably getting slow now out in the yard.
Deep South Texas is also like a whole other Texas, but that is probably true of all of our border counties. Looking at my big bird roosts earlier they are getting full and there is nothing apparent to remove for some reason my feral decided to move in there after 1.5 years of roost in the tree...
Our power only just came back on. We have been without water and electricity since Monday 2 AM. It has been an adventure. It is finally up to 66 indoors I can't wait for the temps to rise more so I can shower and shave
I think 5 spurs per leg were the most I have ever seen images of and is an expected trait. However, most hatchery stock are producing single spurred ones. And yes I think all longtail breed of chicken are gorgeous. A quick google search will turn up more images than you can imagine.
So tonight we found Broodzilla with new chicks, so add another 5 to the mix. Hopefully the hawks will bring that number down. DW is starting to agree with me on a springtime cull. One blue is already growing out second spurs so that is a bonus from hatchery stock.
My back has been such a nightmare this week. So I dropped 50+ on this thing hoping for some non pharma relief. That is how desperate I am. Whenever I can convince my wife to give me a foot stomping to the back to make it crack it does help, but she is not in my families league for cracking backs.
Possibly do not get cutsie and hand feed them? Not one of my birds get close they get out of my space when I feed. That is something my entire flock respects(my space). Even the roosters do the "chicken little" if I am near.
Ok I tried one of those http://veestro.com/ chicken fried steaks. I was very unimpressed. Who puts ginger or whatever in a gravy sauce? Nothing about it was right so all that freezer space is DW's. It would be more appropriate as a UN emergency ration.
